Day of the African child
We went to the Day of the African Child celebrations held at St Patrick’s School. We split into different groups and worked our way around the school, doing different activities such as dance, singing, music, drumming, sport and storytelling. There were lots of other schools there and it was a great atmosphere.
“We made lots of new friends and we learnt about different cultures. I especially enjoyed the singing. I really liked the storyteller, Alfred, from Sierra Leone. He has travelled the world singing African songs.” – Carmen
“It was really good fun. We got to learn lots of different African dance and storytelling.” – Lily
“It was lots of fun. I really liked the singing and the dancing. The teachers were really nice.” – Mia
A BIG thank you to our SMSC governor, Mrs Sara White who accompanied the children at this event.
